My paintings are about the work of time, the imprint of time, the traces of the past, memory and the effect of time on materials. The work on materials lies in the intersection of my professional activities: architecture and painting. The common theme I followed, for my architecture thesis and in my every-day profesional activity. is that of the wall. My paintings are its most successful realisations. On my canvas, I use the very same tools as those that are used in order to build and to decorate a wall: trowels, floats, spatulas for tiling, plaster, coatings and sandpaper. With the graffiti I draw on the canvas, I invent a writing which is not that of men, but that of time. I inject energy and wilderness onto the canvas and at times rage and anger. Other canvases, whose themes are closer to nature, radiate calm and serenity. With the cycles "Souls of walls" and "Blacks", I want to reveal what's under, what's hidden. This is why I sand, claw, scratch and carve the canvas. I mishandle the materials to make them age, and this aging creates a kind of eeriness. What and whose subconcious can be discovered in what materials suppress ? The cycle "Blacks" open the doors to imagination and my paintings are a kind of analytic work. In the cycles "Brocéliande", "Fantasy" and "Energy", I try to show the imaginary world which lies besides reality. I remember the daydreams and the monsters of my childhood, which appeared on wallpapers, on the surface of the walls or on a smudge of my paintings. I often use what happens by accident on the canvas, I even make it happen, so as to show these mirages. The cycles "Wild poppies are back", "Sublime whites", "Blue cycle", "Red cycle" and "Green cycle" show the calm of nature, the freshness of colours, and even a garden popping up from under the snow. Time unfolds by itself on the canvas. All these cycles were painted at the same time and interact with each other ; each one giving me a different kind of pleasure. At the moment, with the cycle "Wild walls", I am trying to merge energy with tenderness, animus with anima, mass with limpidity, lyric with tangible.
